After qualifying with a BSc degree in Chemistry and Mathematics Dick spent 10 years in the Textile Industry and then 10 years lecturing Production Engineering at the Port Elizabeth Technikon.

He and his wife Merle then went into the Nursery business for 22 years.

This business is now owned and run by their two sons.

On retiring to Jeffreys Bay Dick was able to pursue his life-long interest in seashells and is a keen member of the SA Conchological Society.

As a shell dealer Dick's interest is to satisfy his customer and he enjoys making friends with people from all over the world.
